Randomness...

I feel like the birthdays and holidays were a whirl-wind.

Then January came and I really thought we were going to slow down (WRONG).

Now we are 1 day away from February (really?).

We are packing for our annual cabin trip with our very best friends...

Then we will slow down (a promise I'm making to myself).

For now:

This little man keeps us on our toes...

(He will be THAT kids that's eating worms and snails...

luckily just dirt here)

We try to fit in plenty of this.

Em is so in love with her bike.

Ian could take or leave his.

We can't get enough of this guy (mostly Em, but we love him so too!).

We try to have more mornings like this.

Ian can't even get enough of his Em ('mama'... yes, I'm nanny and she's mama. Go figure).

And we PLAY whenever we are home.

And now off to the laundry, dishes, hungry kids, and packing that await me...
like I said, a promise to myself to slow down!

Christmas 2011

Our Holiday's were busy (to say the least).

This bug turned 3 on the 21st.

We celebrated with a "dinosaur" party (more a small family gathering. Pics of that to come very soon) with cake and ice cream.

My princess that LOVES dinosaurs (I'm ok with that).

Her birthday came equipped with a new bike (hence the helmet) and a princess jeep (each from her grandparents)... What could Santa possibly bring after that?

Oh yes... a roller coaster.

The only thing she's asked for all year!

And a train table for little man.

And, of course, more princess dresses (from Maga and Papa).

After a nice, quiet morning at home with my parents, sister, and darling grandma (Great Maga), it was off the Darrick and Josie's for the remainder of the day.

Time spent with cousins is always the best (ans I literally only took a couple pictures).

Now that 2012 has begun and our decorations are all down, this Santa is officially pooped (and oh so thankful for such wonderful family and friends).

Date with the princesses

For Em's 3rd Birthday we took her to eat with the princesses at Disneyland.

She was in Heaven (to say the least)...

(also let me note that she chose to dress as Princess Ariel for the lunch...

the dress made the long journey to the lunch where she decided she didn't want to wear it anymore.

The things we do as parents!)

Belle was the best (even my fave). I actually got caught up her in her beauty and charm.

Oh, and the desserts had to be mentioned.

And that shell, pure white chocolate!

And the best part of our day (aside from Princess Belle), this beautiful Auntie came with us.

Em was in Heaven (yet again) all day with Auntie Court in tow.

(and she even snagged a season pass, so expect a lot more Disney days with her!)

And let us note that he did throw quite a temper tantrum when we had to pry him off this ride!

We got to end the night with Goofy...

And SNOW!

Disneyland is always so magical... especially at Christmas and getting to see it through your children's eyes.
I can truly say the past 3 years have been the best of my life thanks to my little bug.
She really is my favorite girl in this whole world.

we made it this year... The big man himself. Ian was not so fond. And Em informed me she was "very brave." I guess it would be scary to sit on a big strangers lap. This was the best photo they snapped... for $30 (tis the season).

Monster Bash

We celebrated little man's 1st birthday with a monster bash.
Here are a few pictures of the days festivities.
Thank you to all who celebrated with us.
And thank you to Auntie Court and Auntie Josie for keeping me sane before hand!
His party was complete with family, friends... and of course, a bounce house (mostly for Em although Ian enjoyed it before the party started).

Oh... and he got a car from Maga and Papa.

We can't get him out of it!

And the cake may have been his favorite part of the day!

Oh how he loves all his Aunties... (but I only got a picture of Auntie Josie with Em).

Some updates of the month (what?) that has flown by!

Our Thanksgiving was wonderful. Celebrated with family in San Diego. I only took one picture to document Ian's 1st... and sadly, he was already sleeping.
I think it is safe to say the bug is fully potty-trained. Accident-free since the day she sat on the potty (over 3 weeks now). Pretty good for our strong willed child we thought would live in diapers!
We've decided that id Em could be anything for the rest of her life, it would be a princess. She dresses herself as one pretty much daily.
We have put Ian to work (literally though), and ironically his newest favorite toy in the house is the printer. He sneaks away from us and that's where we always find him.
we visited the Zoo with some of our very best friends, The Olson's and the Montano's. Em was in HEAVEN! And we are happy to have our passes back!
We put up the 'ol tree... a favorite for me (and Em), plus it kicks off the holiday season!
And the biggest update to report... our little man turned 1! I'm still a little sad about it.

Aquarium

We visited the Aquarium of the Pacific.

My new favorite place for the kids.

Em was in HEAVEN... and little man was quite fond of it too.

This is Lorikeet Landing.

The bug and Phil were in heaven here... notice I stayed behind the camera (and ironically my camera kept focusing on the emergency exit). Em got to feed the birds... and Phil was so obsessed with these feathered friends, he may be getting one in his stocking this year! (a fake one, of course).

Obsessed is an understatement! We may go back just for the birds!

He's climbing onto everything.

My sister and I are the BIGGEST scardy cats in this world (seriously).

We don't watch scary movies.

We don't do haunted houses.

We hate the dark.

We think Freddy, Jason, and the Scream man actually exist and will come to get us in our sleep.

When Staci showed this to me I decided we've met our match.

I think we'd be really great friends with these two (although I wouldn't have even entered this haunted house. Not even for Ellen).

We decided we'd be shouting the same lines as them, "Take her! Take her!"

This video makes me laugh until I cry.

Then I laugh more even thinking about it.

We were minus Drew and added the newest addition (our neighbors) little 3 week old, Brooke.

Denver

Went to Denver to see the Chargers in action... also got to visit the family.

Perfect trip!

Got to see Grandpa and both aunts... plus cousins!

Oh, and this little bug was in heaven with her Maga and aunts.

Not to mention she was spoiled rotten.

She would get away with murder with these three ladies!!!

And Little Man, yeah, he wasn't deprived either.

I don't think his bottom ever hit the ground.

We started our visit off at Aunt Georgie's.

10 Months.

I sound like a broken record (I know), but really, where have the last 10 months gone?

It's flying by too fast.

He's crawling everywhere.

Sprouted his first tooth.

He still wakes 1-2 times at night (I'm going insane from sleep deprivation).

He FINALLY takes a bottle and rarely wants anything else (one extreme to the next).

He is weighing in at a whopping 16 lb. 12 oz. (still a little squirt but easy to carry around).

We love him so much it's quite sickening!

If the bug is up before little man, this is what our mornings look like.

A very loving sister is in to see her very happy brother.

He waits for her patiently in his crib while she grabs the stool out of the bathroom.

I love mornings like this... crazy hair and all!

(I only had my phone to capture this... I'll have to keep my camera handy for the next time)

Now that we are back from Denver I have a lot of catching up to do...

Not to mention I finally got a new computer (I've been without for a few weeks).

9 months already?

For some (sad) reason, 9 months seems like a major milestone in a baby's life.
They seem a bit older at this age.
Personalities shining through like never before.
This little man is (still) such a joy.
He rarely complains.
He is so full of love.
And those baby blues still get me every time.

We haven't seen the dr. yet for his 9 month check, but he is still a peanut (so we have a couple more days to pack on a few pounds, right?).

He still wears 3-6 and 6 month clothing.

He has no teeth (Shocker!).

He is finally making forward progress on his tummy... the army crawl.

He became even happier the moment he could sit up on his own and then pretty much stopped there.

He is such a happy and easy baby.

His greatest loves are his sister and yahtzee (but I'm pretty sure he's quite fond of Phil and I as well).

Summer Splash!

We discovered the Splash Zone at Lake Skinner a little late in the summer. We have decided it's our very favorite place to play these hot summer days. It is oh so fun and such a neat way to stay cool! Plus, no need to worry about anyone drowning. LOVE IT!!!

Fair Time

I love the fair.
I love the food.
I love it even more when I share it with this little muffin!

She let both sets of grandparents know she wants Shorty for Christmas.

Every time we drive by and see horses anywhere, she informs us Shorty was in there.

She cried when this washed off at bath time
And she LOVED this ride.
We had to remind her not to waste all her tickets in one place.

Oh... and he liked the fair too.

She still talks about the fair almost daily (my mom can attest to this), and reminds us how much fun she had on the rides and Shorty.

I think she wants to make sure we go back next year.

Thank you to D&J... we had such a wonderful trip and the kids loved being on the boat.

summer happenings

this one's out of order... but we try t spend as much time with this auntie before she goes back for her last semester of college. Everything is better when she s on tow!

summer is coming to an end... for those who have to go back to school and work (Maga)... so we are so very sad. Here's what our days have been filled with:

quite a few trips to the beach...

visits from out of towners (aunties... these kids ate up all the attention)...

a few small weekend family getaways... this one to San Diego

always the highlight anywhere we go...

many of these in the backyard....

Sea World trips where em could spend all day feeding these friends....

daily attempts at this (although I'm pretty sure we're not close because she really does not care about it at all nor when she has pee running down her legs... no judging!)

and endless smiles from this little man (who is almost 8 months!)

I can't get enough of his smiles and snuggles!!!

our 4th of july festivities were low key (our favorite kind).
it started with em's first encounter with the ice cream man.
she happened to choose my child-hood favorite,
the pink panther popsicle (equipped with bubble gum eyes).
she proudly handed her money over in exchange for her ice cream.

but i am still his girlfriend.

auntie came to town for the long weekend (em was in heaven).

we had a delicious dinner at shogun.

the past 2 weeks have been a whirlwind!

we managed to squeeze in Disneyland, birthday festivities, San Diego, a half marathon, and a weeks vacation to Riviera Maya...

add in there a check-up with the doctor (6 months, really?), a trip to vet which turned into a minor surgery for poor Yahtzee, major grocery shopping and endless piles of laundry... and this mama is wiped out!

we are just having our first down day (thankfully).

Until I sort through the hundreds of photos from the past couple weeks, here is just a preview of our traveling babies

Life has been pretty uneventful around here these days (but in a good way). Everyone is having babies and we have been going to/hosting showers and taking in all the beautiful babes around us! We welcomed baby Finley mid-April, baby Blake May 1st, and baby Sophia May 3rd... and we are still waiting for baby Olson to arrive in August (whew)...
For now here are our babes (can't get enough of them)...

This little man is too sweet for words (not just because he's mine... he really is such a sweet, smiley baby)...

And this bug is in love with daddy (and I hate to admit I'm a wee bit jealous)...

They love spending time together...

trying to snap a few photos of my babes by myself has proved to be a challenge:
1. i'm surely not a photographer.
2. ian is not at the age where he just lays there, but not yet sitting on his own
3. emma is not the "best" baby holder
4. big sis is much more concerned about ian looking at the camera than herself... the whole time she is telling him to look at me and she is looking at him and he is slowly sliding down her lap.
5. i'm surely NOT a photographer... hence the beautiful pole in the background!

This was as good as it got for me...

after about 5 minutes i had to bring on the bribes... then she had to show little man her prize for smiling (i know, i'm an awful mother).

*(i do have to say the edited versions looked much nicer, but because i'm also not that computer saavy, i couldn't figure out how to get those ones here... ugh)

Easter festivities...

our Easter fun really began Friday night with cookie decorating with our BFF's...
Which led to decorating eggs with the cousins on Saturday...

Which led us to Easter Sunday... Family, Easter Bunny, and Egg hunts.

The E.B. left a trail of jelly beans from our room to the family room...

where he had eggs and baskets waiting.

This bug was way more excited to show little man his basket than she was about hers

Then she was very proud she managed to open her chocolate bunny all by herself.

Then she helped herself to some.

Our families came over to play with us the rest of the day...

Our babes crashed super early... we had a relaxing night after.

Em started gymnastics a few weeks ago and I finally remembered my camera

(and it happened to be my lucky day because it was the first time she even let the teacher touch her).

She is loving it so far...

These two are so much fun to watch together...

And I find myself being a third wheel during the day lately.

Where has 4 months gone?

This little man is already 4 months!

Here are a few of his favorite things...

one word: BUMBO!

(love that he is able to utilize this precious seat... it is a mom's best friend)

He loves seeing the world from the up-right position.

He would do this all day... Bath time.

Little man is weighing in at a whopping 11 pounds, 14 ounces

and is such a true joy...

I constantly tell people I am completely obsessed with him (is that weird?).

He is so smiley and loving and cuddly.

His laugh is contagious.

I can't seem to get enough of him.

*and now, as a mom, I'd appreciate if he'd just stay this small

(for a little while anyway).

Friends + Cabin

For a little weekend getaway we rented a cabin in Lake Arrowhead with our greatest friends. Lucky for us we got snow during our stay. Arrowhead has the cutest little town and is extremely family friendly.

This is how our trip began....

We had the best time and we are already planning our next trip.

Thank you to our wonderful friends who never disappoint and always promise the best time.

Loving the Park...

We are so blessed to have such wonderful weather (even during these winter months).
We have been frequenting the park.
The bug loves swinging and going "wee" on the slides.
Another fave... climbing (I have learned these play structures are stitches or broken limbs waiting to happen. Both my biggest fear).
They are all very unsafe, so of course Em has the best time.

This particular day we were lucky enough to spend a day at the park with Case and Luci

(and of course their beautiful mommy).

We were spoiled during their visit.

(and couldn't you just eat them up?)

A couple days later Em got another special treat when papa took her to the park again...

And he seemed pretty happy to be there again too.

These two have the most special bond.

It is one of my very favorite things... to see them together.

She adores him (and I think the feeling may be mutual).

Saturday's usually begin this way.

Valentine's Day brought Auntie home...

This little muffin is in love with Princess Rapunzel

(and maybe I am too so I hide it by saying my 2 year old is)...

We took auntie to see Tangled today.

Our 3rd time, her 1st.

The point of this post is simple...

If you have not seen this adorable Disney movie, please do so before it is out of theaters for good. I don't know if it will have the same effect on the TV at home.

The music, the story, the colors, the characters... they're all amazing (can you tell I, I mean 'we' have a slight obsession?).

We listen to the soundtrack when we aren't at the theater watching the movie.

It doesn't matter your age or if you have children or not (I think I would love it either way).

If you are too embarrassed to see it without a child, I know a 2 year old that would gladly go (and her mommy too).

Auntie happened to be quite fond of the movie.

If you have seen it I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did... all 3 times.

Phil and I are training for the rock and roll half marathon (full just doesn't sound appealing).

We are "plus 2" for this training process.

Thank you to my sweet cousin, Melissa, for giving us the motivation...

We are on week three of training.

I slow my poor husband down, but bless his heart, he waits for me every time.

These two are troopers... they just go along for the ride.

Little man sleeps... the bug eats snacks and drinks milk (Yahtzee even comes along some days).

Anyone feel like joining? We are trying to get a group together to run... it may be fun.

why does time go so fast when you become a mother?

This sweet little man has already hit the 2 month mark.
I wish time would stand still.
Knowing he is our last (doctors orders), makes everything seem as if it's moving at warp speed.
He smiles constantly and is beginning to "coo" and "aww."
He is such a sweet baby.... so cuddly and loving (minus the 5-8 pm fussiness, which, I keep telling myself will pass).
He is weighing in at a whopping 9 1/2 ponds, which is a far cry from the 5 pounds, 14 ounces he was born at.
Needless to say, we love him to pieces... big sis included!

I wish they would just stay...

Where did the month go? Little man is already 1 month old....
He is pure heaven.
We rarely hear so much as a whimper from him.
He lets me sleep at night (in 3 hour windows, but at least it's sleep).
We are loving our house with a new baby in it and forgot how much we missed this.
Now I should ask where did 2 years go?
It seems just yesterday she was sleeping so peacefully like her little brother.
We enjoy our toddler just as much.
She is pure heaven too (with a little sass).

Feeling a little guilty as I looked at my recent posts.

I was afraid Emma would be the forgotten child, but it looks as though maybe Ian is the forgotten one.

I was feeling bad for him... so here he is, 4 weeks old today, weighing in at 7 lb., 15 oz. (quite a good eater). Here are a few shots over the past weeks... he really is such a wonderful baby, so peaceful and easy, and deserving of a post on here.

Our bug turned 2 on December 21st...

It was a sad day for me... 2 just sounds so "toddlerish"...

No longer a baby.

But I think she had a pretty good day.

Just when cabin fever was setting in and daddy had to go back to work, Maga saved the day!

We welcomed our new little bundle on December 6 at 7:56 am.

He is such a joy.

And Emma couldn't be more in love... well, so are we.

Our little man weighed in at 5lb, 14oz. and was 17 1/4 in. long... just a peanut!

and this lady made it all happen...

we LOVE Dr. Lebo.

The proud big sister...

Late on Monday night Phil and I were talking and we both agreed,

we didn't even know we were missing something,

but as soon as Ian cried, we both instantly felt that our family was complete.

Funny that we both felt the exact same way.

And a week later, it still feels complete.

We are falling into a routine nicely.

Life is GOOD

Every day, at least three times a day, I tell Emma, "I love you to the moon and back."

She replies, "To the moon and stars."

Me, "That's a lot of love."

Emma, "Yeah, to the moon and stars and back." (but her little voice is priceless as she talks to me)

My point: We are going to the hospital in the morning for the birth of our little boy.

I have to stay for 2 nights (that's 3 days away from my bug... including tonight when she will stay with my parents as well)

Never been away from her for that long...

but I know the miracle we will bring home Wednesday will make our family even more complete.

My mom will bring her by daily to see us and baby brother... and I will make sure I tell her that I love her to the moon and back, just so I can hear that little voice!

I'm sure I will have millions of pictures upon return.

We are anxious... waiting for baby boy's arrival.

Such a double edged sword... December 6th can't come quick enough, yet it's coming much too fast (make sense to anyone who is a mother of two?).

I am worried that this little bug will feel left out.

It all started with pumpkin carving (which was 'yuck' of course).

Emma wanted hearts on her pumpkin... we did our best.

There is a story behind the music:

During bath time Phil and Emma sing "wash your body" to the tune of "shake your body." Emma laughs and sings as she washes with bubbles... soon Phil and I are laughing so hard she is the only one left singing.

This particular night she decided to sing with Papa... although not in the bath, Papa joined right in (even with the correct tune). We could not stop laughing (at both Papa and Emma).

I couldn't tell which one was funnier... maybe you can?

These two have such a special bond... they are a crack up to watch together...

I have been lagging...

we visited Catalina...

and had a wonderful time with this little bug.

We also visited Kansas City...

for a Chargers/ Chiefs game...

where we were extremely outnumbered by Chiefs fans...

Sometimes I envy a toddlers imagination.

This little one's goes above and beyond.

She was having a blast playing behind the curtain of the hotel room with her friends.

This went on for almost an hour so I only got the tail end.

I think she loves the fact that she can boss them around and they listen.

I love here how she kisses them as she picks them up off the floor...

like they got hurt when they fell.

It also gives me time throughout the day to get things done.

Wild Animal Park

Went to the Wild Animal park on a day we thought wouldn't be too hot (if you've ever been there in the summer you know it can be scorching). We were wrong... we boiled... and walked, and walked, and walked, and saw very few animals. I am just partial to the San Diego Zoo, so ignore Negative Nancy. Emma really only cared about two things....

The Merry go round, where she picked a new animal to ride each time... let me rephrase, she picked very thoughtfully and carefully each time,

and DUCKS (my worst nightmare).

Luckily she has a brave grandma to show her how to properly feed these vicious animals (although she did let out a high pitched squeal when the duck actually took the food from her hand).

She was happy to spend the day with grandma (or Maga as she now calls her), so that's all that matters.

Rocky Mountain FUN!

We visited Colorado to see Auntie, Aunt Georgie, Uncle Pete, Grant, Aunt Jenny, and Grandpa... along with my parents and their 2 furry friends (whom Emma believe to be her BFF's). We had such a wonderful (and relaxing) time visiting family and friends.

Botanical gardens... so pretty

Emma was in heaven with all the flowers and insisted everyone smell them

Aunt Georgie pulled out all the stops this trip so that her and Emma

were guaranteed to part as the best of friends.

I think the M&M's, ice cubes, babysitting and book reading all worked very nicely!

So corny, but I love rainbows... we don't see them very often in CA

Emma and Gapa visited the park... just the 2 of them

(although they let grandma tag along to take a few photos)

We all read hundreds of books to this little bug... literally!

We even picked up a few new ones while there

Due to this weather, we did not get to watch (or light) any fireworks on the 4th!

But we did get to sneak away later in the night for a date to see Eclipse...

Just a few things to update (without any pictures... reason below)

1. Happy Belated birthday to my mom! The best mom and grandma in the whole world. Glad you shared your special day with us.

2. Found out Emma will be having a little BROTHER! Yes... we are having a little boy (no name yet). We are elated!

3. Our father's day was so nice.... spent bbqing at the house with family.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads and dada's out there!

4. Took grandma to Disneyland (just me and the bug) for her birthday... day started out so nice except that I think we happened to go on the busiest day of the year. Our stroller got stolen (yes, STOLEN... I know, who steals a stroller from the Happiest Place on Earth? That's just another reason I think they should refer to Target as the happiest place on Earth, I've never heard of a stroller being stolen from there!), along with my wallet, camera case (hence the no pictures... the charger and USB cord were in the case), and our bag for the day with jackets, DIAPERS, wipes, snacks, sippy cups, bibs, change of clothes, and sanitary wipes (all necessities when you are lugging an 18 month old around all day.. not to mention having a STROLLER is always nice). So we spent the latter part of the day (4+ hours) with security and a detective filing reports and trying to find our belongings. Poor grandma, it didn't turn out to be such a happy day!

5. On the positive side... June is almost over, which has turned out to be a very BAD month in this household with the lost and found dog and now the stroller and wallet, a company car that keeps dying (we are just holding out for ADP to give Phil the word to pick out a new one), and the 50 million birthdays we have been celebrating (literally). We are going to be glad to welcome JULY with open arms!

(sorry for the bitterness.... hopefully the pictures of the months events will be on here shortly. We are purchasing the new cord and charger today.

Happy early JULY to everyone (we already have the calendars changed over here!).

She saw me pull out the video so I think she is downplaying her excitement.

We watch this every day (no joke), so we are making a trip to the happiest place on Earth TODAY (that's Target, not Disneyland for those of you who don't know) and we are purchasing Toy Story 2 so I can memorize every line in that movie too...

Then we will be sure to see #3 next week (I have to admit, I am very excited)!

Last night I had a dream... about CUPCAKES!
Today it was all I could think about (For those who don't know, I am pregnant so cut me some slack)! I woke up with CUPCAKES on the brain and longed to be with my very dear friend Lauren and be near "The Sweet Tooth Fairy," but a cupcake house here had to do. For those of you who know me, I am very non argumentative, I hate confrontation, and I hate speaking my mind in uncomfortable situations, but last night I had no problem telling off a lady who was going to purchase the LAST chocolate cupcake (in my dream of course). I tried coaxing her into buying the peanut butter one because it had sprinkles, but she wouldn't go for it, so I began to argue and then sadly beg. I didn't get my cupcake in the dream (she had no sympathy for a pregnant lady in need of a chocolate cupcake), but I did fix that first thing today!

So in honor of Laurney I post a tribute to the countless cupcakes we eat when we are together. I did have help today from Staci, Court, and Nene (I had no problem sharing, but thankfully the left overs stayed here with me ).

A WEEK in review...

This past week has been our version of a week from... well you know where I'm going with this. We were dog sitting over the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. Everything was going great, dogs played well together, little Lexi fit right in with the family, and we didn't want this little fur ball to go home.
Well.... she almost didn't. Monday we came home from a BBQ. Phil greeted Lexi in the backyard, she got spooked, and took OFF. LONG story short... she was missing from Monday night until Friday night. We had to call the owner and tell her we had lost her dog (can you imagine making that call?) and spent every waking moment (literally) trying to find her. We hung signs, drove around shouting absurd 'doggie calling' phrases out the car window in the most annoying voices, walked the neighborhood around us, visited local pounds/shelters, and rushed to the car with every received phone call giving us tips on her whereabouts. We were always just minutes behind this fast little girl.
Needless to say, we received a phone call from the owner Friday while we were at Disneyland that someone may have her. We left the happiest place on Earth, rushed home, and there was little Lexi. A family had found her and was keeping her until an owner came forward. Luckily our story had a happy ending and I received an early birthday gift. She was reunited with her owner (after a quick vet check) Saturday afternoon. Our doggie consumed week ended well.
And this little bug survived a week of going to bed at 10:00, being thrown in the car at a moments notice, spending hours in the car driving around our neighborhood, napping in the car, being woken from naps, and worst of all.... TEETHING (to the extreme). She finally got into bed at a decent time last night... thank goodness. I can't take much more of her crankiness and crying (and I can't even blame her). We still wouldn't trade her.

It melts my heart to see these two together. They are two peas in a pod, the bug and her auntie.
Emma couldn't get enough in one weekend. I think it's safe to say, neither could auntie.

She did have "the touch" all weekend.

Gave her back to me twice, sound asleep.

Couldn't have done the trip without auntie court.

We can't do a lot of things without this fabulous lady.

I don't know how I get by on a daily basis without her.

Of course auntie came with gifts.

A purse. An adorable outfit.

From one princess to another.

Miss this face already.

So does Emma.

Mother's Day.... a little late

I do not think it is until you become a parent that you truly, deeply, and unselfishly understand the time and love your own mother spent on raising children. It is a full time job with payments not in checks, but hugs, kisses, snotty noses, first words, first steps, laughter, and smiles (which is so much better than a check... although if the bug payed in money it would be nice). Thank you to my beautiful and hardworking mom. You are a saint. You raised girls and even kept us through our teenage years. You have taught me so much about being a good mom. I love you more than you will ever know.

For Mother's day we visited the San Diego Zoo with both sets of grandparents in tow. What a nice day we had. Not too hot, not too cold. Emma likes nothing more than getting as close to the animals as she can. She LOVES the zoo... therefore, so do we.

Emma's very favorite (as many of you know from seeing her arm as a trunk as she makes a high pitched elephant squeal... at least she tries)

Cabo Fun

We ventured to Cabo San Lucas with these two lovely parents....

And what a wonderful time we had in the sun! Brace yourself for this LONG post (I am apologizing now for the length).

I am convinced there is no better trip to take little ones on... the pool, the beach, the food, and the (virgin) drinks! She (we) couldn't have been happier.

To top it off, every day after lunch, Emma was treated to a soft serve ice cream.

And she was entertained at dinners.

Although we didn't plan it, Emma bug created her own little routine each day (which thankfully included an afternoon nap by the pool)

Our trip into town on Wednesday

Her favorite part of the day was swimming time (row-row according to her)

Her second favorite... pina colada time!

(only in Mexico would you find a "makeshift" pooh bear)

Thursday we returned to town and this little one got to swim with the dolphins! We had such a good time... she got to pet them, kiss them, and dance with them. What an experience! (we weren't allowed to take any pictures inside)

Everywhere we went there were BIRDS! Lucky for Emma, very unlucky for mommy. All day she'd say "birdie!" with such excitement.

Our one and only trip (short trip) to the beach. The sand was rough, Emma hates the sand, and why did we even need the beach when we had such a beautiful pool to lay by?

The bugs last drink of the trip. We already know she will be expecting a cocktail before her nap daily! She's in for a rude awakening!

We are signing off for the week... headed to Cabo with the family! We will return with loads of pictures and a tan (hopefully!).

We had such a nice day with family...

and celebrated this sweet girls '6th' birthday!

Our day started with Emma bug's own egg hunt (the video will come later in the week)

and opening her Easter basket.

Then it was outside for another egg hunt with the cousins...

"Gapa" offered to trade for a much larger bill, but she couldn't part with her treasures!

After today... this Easter bunny is beat!

Preparations...

Our Easter officially started Saturday night.... with egg dying! (and let me add how happy I am to have the "other" Edison's back in town... LOVING IT!)

This sweet girl had a hard time letting everyone help her...

We love our sassy pants!

Looks like these two had the same idea!

(let me just mention... this little man melts my heart!)

These sweet girls were so much fun!

And of course we can't forget the goodies the Easter Bunny brings....

Here is video from bubbles... but Emma isn't even the best part... it's our CRAZY dog in the background. She apparently loved the bubbles more than any of us! (I am apologizing for my obnoxious voice in the background!)

Dada and kisses...

We talk to dada every day he is at the office. This particular day... Emma grabbed the phone and ran (literally) away from me. She wanted dada all to herself. She kissed, him, danced with him, and waved bye-bye to him. Then when he was gone she proceeded to cry "dada." I didn't get it all on video... but what I did get shows just how much we miss "dada" when he is away :(

We (again) are LOVING the spring weather.. so much so that we played with BUBBLES! It was the bugs first experience with her bubbles... and I know it will NOT be her last!

This was just the beginning... look how proud she is to be carrying her own bubbles!

Then it was her turn to (try) and blow her own... didn't go as well

We love you SPRING.... don't go away :)
